Talk about a surprise elimination!

Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet announced late last night that she won't be returning as a co-host for the dancing competition's 18th season.

Despite having served as the reality show's co-host for eight seasons, Brooke broke the surprising news on her Twitter: "Weird day ... Shocking pre-season elimination #DWTS …ME. Tom Bergeron didn't even read my name... I won't be returning to the show this season."

A confirmation of the news was given by the show's executive producer Conrad Green, who wrote in a statement, "We can confirm that Brooke Burke-Charvet will not be joining us next season... She's been a wonderful part of the Dancing with the Stars family since her triumphant win in season seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We'd like to thank Brooke for her years of great service."

Dancing with the Stars to Honor Patrick Swayze

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars,

Next week’s three-day premiere of Dancing with the Stars will include a tribute to one of their early contributors. On Wednesday, the program will take time out to honor Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze.

Back in 2005, the actor/dancer made a brief appearance on the freshman series as a coach for John O’Hurley. He also sat in the audience during the Season 1 finale to support his friend.

“He was one of the few people to integrate dance with being an A-list actor,” executive producer Conrad Green said. “He inspired many people and many of our pros to dance. We want to honor the great moments he’s brought to film by getting our dancers to do their interpretation to some music from his films.”

DWTS’ ninth season begins Monday, September 21 @ 8:00.

Well, at least they got some nice photos of it…

One day after rumors of a Holly Madison appearance surfaced, two Dancing with the Stars casting decisions were made official: Jewel and Nancy O’Dell are now permanently on the disabled list. Both celebrities suffered injuries to their knees during the rehearsal phase.

“It’s rather unfortunate that people the most committed to the show were doing harm to their bodies. I believe both injuries came from overtraining, particularly in the early stages,” executive producer Conrad Green stated.
